In addition to the categories of product design, material design and packaging design was the award in 2004 in the Category communication design introduced and has since established itself in the top flight of the main national and international competitions in this field. In the category communication design 275 works were awarded a total 1,054 submitted contributions. The winning entries appear in the iF design yearbook 2012, as well as in the iF online exhibition.

The best 100 works of 30 from the field of communication design which were submitted to this year’s competition are also February 10, 2012, during a formal ceremony at BMW Welt in Munich announced and honoured with the iF Gold Award.
